Minor upates

Minor updates

Analytical biochemistry lecture will be on 8 august 8 to 9am at LTQ6. Lecture content will be included in the examination. So be early and dont skip. Also HBD will be on wednesday.

Reports to be completed on week 11:

Cell tech - Experiment 1 and 6, to be completed on monday.
HBD - Special Senses
ABC - Practical 5, Chromatography
IMB - Experiment 7, Hep A


Dont forget to take a look at the E lecture contents in the yahoo mail. I dont have the details. If someone has the address and username and password, please leave a message in the chatterbox for all to see.

on 8th of august, from 9 to 12, there will be a break, meaning no lessons. So i suggest you guys try to form a group and start doing some discussions on the HACCP Project for IMB. Im not sure about the groupings and its procedure, but i reccomend you guys to start forming groups and prepare for it. Meanwhile, ill get further details on the HACCP project, particularly on the groupings. Also the workflow (sausage factory) for the project, each of you will have one.

Pfizer Burseries

Dear Mentors

Pfizer is offering Bursary Awards to 2 students from our Diploma. However 5 can apply.
Eligibility Criteria
- Student must have good academic results
-Only students with financial need should apply
-Applicants must not be in receipt of other bursary/scholarship

Terms
-Award is for Acad year 2005/2006. Renewable the following year subject to student performance
-Quantum of award is $2000 to @2200
-Successful applicant will be required to be attached to Pfizer during IAP
-Shortlisted students will be interviewed.

SPD EDUCATION PROGRAMME AWARDS 2006



Application period: 01 August 2005 till 30 September 2005

Eligibility: i) Full-time students who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.
ii) *Physically disabled OR who have at least ONE parent who is *physically disabled
*EXCLUDES hearing/speech/visual disability
iii) Successful in final or semestral examinations and about to proceed to the next level of education
iv) Gross monthly household income not exceeding $3,000.00
v) Have regular attendance record and of good personal conduct
vi) Must not be in receipt of any other scholarship / bursary award

Award ceremony for this SPD award is expected to be in December 2005.

National Day Celebrations

We will be celebrating National Day on 8 Aug 2005 (Mon).

Lessons will be disrupted between 12 - 2 pm in order for the students to make their way to NYP Auditorium for the celebration. All staff are to be down as well. It will be a rare occasion where the whole of SCL(LS) can come together to celebrate our nation's birthday. For this purpose, let's have everyone come dress in National Day red or white!! And thanks to Hwee Been and her students from SCL Club, we have lined up the following programme:

12.20 National Day Mascots competition
12.35 Singing of National Day theme song "Reach for the Skies"
12.45 Prize Presentation for Best National Day Mascots

MENTORS: Please disseminate the following information by the last paper of the student's common test. THANKS!
(1) Ask your mentor group to all wear red tops or all wear white tops. Perferably for each mentor group, one uniform colour.
(2) Inform them that there is a contest for the best National Day mascot.
RULES:
* Each mentor group will select a student as a mascot and a team of 2 - 3 students to dress up the mascot
* Students are encouraged to used cheap or recycled materials and not spend money for this event
* Each class will prepare their materials to dress up or decorate the mascot in National Day theme
* They have 5 minutes to do so on stage
* There will be a random interviewing of different mascots by the emcee so students need to be able to explain their choice of materials and how it fits the National Day theme
* The winning class will walk away with $50 in Swensens vouchers (or equivalent)
(3) Inform your class of their seating position as attached.

(4) Select a class rep to go up on stage to support Angeline (SCL's vice president) as she lead in the saying of the pledge. The rep should be Singaporean.

After the event, let's all have a nice National Day lunch at the audi's pre-function room - both staff and students. See ya there!
